Over 4,000 in Iligan City affected by Typhoon Basyang receive food packs from GMA Kapuso Foundation

Over 4,000 individuals in Iligan City, Lanao Del Norte received aid from GMA Kapuso Foundation after the onslaught of Typhoon Basyang.

As seen in Mel Tiangco's report in "24 Oras" on Wednesday, the city is experiencing water shortage five days since the typhoon hit their province.

"Umabot sa 249 mm 'yung rainfall namin. Nag-overflow sa Tubod Bridge which is first time. First time din na naapektuhan 'yung center of commerce namin," Armien Alorro of Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (LDRRMO) IIligan City said.

To extend assistance, the GMA Kapuso Foundation held its Operasyon Bayanihan, distributing food packs three barangays severely affected by the typhoon.

The initiative was carried out with the support of the Philippine Army's 2nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade, ensuring that aid reached communities hardest hit by the typhoon.

Aside from Iligan City, a team from the GMA Kapuso Foundation is also in Camarines Norte to distribute assistance.

Some 467,000 individuals were affected by the impacts of tropical cyclone Basyang in Visayas and Mindanao.

For those who wish to support GMA Kapuso Foundation's projects, donations may be made via Metrobank, Land Bank, BDO, Bank of Commerce, UnionBank, PNB, Cebuana Lhuillier, GCash, Lazada, and Shopee.
