Man mauled after hitting Cebuano vlogger at CDO fiesta

A man was mauled by a crowd after he punched a visiting vlogger during a recent fiesta in Cagayan de Oro City.

In his report on Tuesday for 24 Oras, James Paolo Yap of GMA Regional TV said a festive outdoor concert at Barangay Iponan turned violent when a man suddenly went up the stage and punched the Cebuano-based vlogger on the head from behind.

The uploader of the viral video said the concert was at an end and the male vlogger was taking selfies with fans before the incident occurred.

His assailant’s actions prompted other people to gang up on him, landing several punches and kicks on the man who fell to the floor.

Barangay officials said the suspect was also a visitor to their area and was under the influence of liquor during the incident, which the man admitted to.

The vlogger was taken to a hospital for medical treatment. In a social media post, he said he underwent a CT scan procedure which revealed no major injuries.

Police arrested the suspect who was temporarily released afterwards.

The vlogger said he was willing to talk to his attacker and ask if he has a problem.

Barangay officials said the vlogger does not intend to press charges against the suspect but they in turn will discuss what appropriate action to take.
