Ash emission observed on Kanlaon Volcano crater — PHIVOLCS
Ash emission at the summit crater of Kanlaon Volcano was observed early Friday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported.
The emission, which occurred at 12:50 a.m. on Friday and lasted for 17 minutes, "generated plumes that rose to 300 meters above the crater before drifting southwest as recorded by the thermal camera in Lower Masulog (VKLM) observation station."
PHIVOLCS also said that Alert Level 2 prevails over Kanlaon Volcano.
On Thursday, February 12, 2026, the agency reported that 11 volcanic earthquakes occurred and at least 1,118 tons of sulfur dioxide flux and seven meters of plume were recorded.
There was also ground deformation observed.
PHIVOLCS maintained that entry into the Permanent Danger Zone (PDZ) is prohibited while aircrafts are not allowed near the crater of the volcano.
