Suspect in Cebu hit-and-run killing young businessman released on bail
The suspect in the hit-and-run incident that killed a young businessman in Cebu City has been released from custody after he posted bail.
According to the report on “24 Oras” by GMA Regional TV’s Allan Domingo, the accused posted bail worth P72,000 for the charge of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide.
The accused wore a helmet and a Kevlar vest and was escorted by police when he left the court.
He was said to return to the hospital for his injuries in the accident that killed 23-year-old Kingston Cheng.
Atty. Julito Añora, the accused’s defense lawyer, said his client regretted the incident.
However, Añora said the suspect refused to answer questions during inquest proceedings, according to a separate report on "Saksi."
Meanwhile, five individuals who were caught attempting to enter the suspect’s hospital room underwent inquest proceedings for violation of Republic Act 11917, or the Private Security Services Industry Act.
They reportedly introduced themselves as the suspect’s security escorts.
The suspect’s legal counsel said that the five were not bodyguards or escorts employed by his family. – with Jiselle Anne Casucian/NB/VBL, GMA Integrated News
