Authorities have recently seized over P1.1 million worth of cooking oil products in Tarlac City, Tarlac for alleged food safety violations, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said on Sunday.

In a statement, the PNP said the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and the Tarlac City police station enforced a search warrant in Barangay San Rafael.

During the operation, authorities seized hundreds of cooking oil containers, transaction records, delivery receipts, and cooking oil such as palm oil and coconut oil worth P1.15 million.

A Tarlac City court issued the search warrant against the facility for alleged violations of Republic Act 9711 or the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Act of 2009.

PNP chief Police General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the operation is proof of the PNP’s determination to protect Filipinos and ensure that only safe food products are sold in the market.

“We strongly advise consumers to avoid buying unverified cooking oil products from unknown or unauthorized sellers,” Nartatez said.

“Ang kalusugan ng bawat isa ay hindi dapat isugal, and we will continue to act against those endangering public safety (No one’s health should be at risk, and we will continue to act against those endangering public safety),” he added.

The seized cooking oil products and other products were brought to the CIDG Provincial Field Unit office in Camp Macabulos for proper documentation and disposition. — JMA, GMA Integrated News
