SK chair draws flak for touching convenience store food with bare hands
A Sangguniang Kabataan chairperson in Santa Cruz, Laguna has been castigated online after a now-viral video showed him placing his bare hands all over siopao and hotdogs in a convenience store.
According to Mav Gonzales’ report in “24 Oras” on Tuesday, netizens expressed concern that Mark Adrian Napiza’s actions could pose a health and hygiene issue.
Napiza has apologized.
“Unang una po, inaamin ko na ang aking naging kilos sa nasabing video ay hindi tama at hindi po nararapat, kahit na ito po ay ginawa ko lamang bilang biro na parte ng aking video content kasama ng aking mga kaibigan at walang anumang hangad na masamang intensyon,” he said in a statement, adding that such behavior is unacceptable given his public position.
(First of all, I admit that my actions in the video were wrong and inappropriate, even though I only did it as a joke as part of my video content with my friends, and had no ill intentions.)
Napiza also said that he bought all the food items he touched on the same day he filmed the video.
“Gusto ko pong ipagbigay alam na ang lahat ng aking nahawakang pagkain ay aking kinuha at binayaran nang mismong oras at araw na din na iyon,” he said.
(I want to inform everyone that I took and paid for all the food items I touched at that very same hour and day.)
The SK chairperson added that he already apologized to the management of the convenience store for the inconvenience he caused.
Napiza also vowed to coordinate with the Sangguniang Kabataan Pederasyon and the Department of the Interior and Local Government and will accept any measures from the authorities.
Napiza’s video is just one of the many online contents that has caused inconvenience to many, which are not in compliance with the Code of Ethics and Conduct by the Creator and Influencer Council of the Philippines (CICP).
The CICP noted that content creators “shall perform their jobs with skill, due care, prudence, and diligence, in addition to complying with laws, regulations, and company policies.” — Vince Angelo Ferreras/BM, GMA Integrated News
