Mother in Davao de Oro town slits kids’ necks before harming self

A mother in Nabunturan, Davao de Oro killed her children – a 3-year-old boy and a 7-month-old infant – by slitting their necks before turning the knife on herself.

According to the report of GMA Regional TV’s Jandi Esteban in “24 Oras” on Wednesday, the victims’ grandfather found the two children lifeless on Tuesday morning.

Police investigation showed that the mother also stabbed herself after killing her children.

“The grandfather saw his daughter and his two grandchildren lying on the floor in the room. Because of what happened, he carried his daughter because she was still alive,” said Police Captain Jusibelle Abellon, spokesperson of the Davao de Oro Police Provincial Office, in the vernacular.

“He asked who did this to them or if she was the one who did it. She didn’t speak because she also had a wound on her neck and she just nodded,” she added. 

The children’s grandfather claimed that the mother and her live-in partner – the children’s father – allegedly had an argument before the incident.

“The children’s father left that night. He had to travel because he works as a truck helper. They had an argument. It was only discovered the next day that such crime happened,” Abellon said. 

The suspect is still recovering from her injuries in a hospital after undergoing surgery.

Her live-in partner will no longer press charges against the suspect and mother of his children. — Vince Angelo Ferreras/JMA, GMA Integrated News
