Ashfall, sulfuric smell recorded in 11 Negros Occidental towns after Kanlaon moderate eruption
The Negros Occidental Operations Center reported on Thursday incidents of ash fall as some residents also noted sulfuric smell in 11 towns after the moderate explosive eruption of Kanlaon Volcano.
A moderately explosive eruption occurred at the Kanlaon Volcano on Negros Island on Thursday night that was followed by continuous ash emissions, the Philippine Institute for Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said.
In posts on its social media accounts, PHIVOLCS said the eruption happened at around 7:04 p.m. Thursday, February 26 and lasted for two minutes based on seismic and infrasound records.
Moderate to heavy ashfall was reported in Pontevedra and Himamaylan while sulfuric stench was reported in Barangay Codcod in San Carlos City.
As of 10 p.m. on Thursday, the Center recorded the following incidents:

"If you experience ashfall or hazards related to the latest Kanlaon Volcano eruption, kindly report to your Barangay DRRMC, Local DRRMO, or your local authorities," the Center announced.
