Two members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters-Bungos Faction were arrested following a joint law enforcement operation by the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Western Mindanao Command in Tupi, South Cotabato, on Friday, the WestMinCom said.

The operation, held in Barangay Bonao, led to the arrest of:

1) Nasrullah Omar Onsek, alias “Kagui Tatang” / “Kagui Onsek," identified as a Field Commander of the BIFF-Bungos Faction and listed as a High-Value Individual (HVI); and

2) Rowaida Omar, alias “Kagui Rowaida," identified as a medical staff member of the same group.

The arrested individuals are facing charges of multiple attempted murder, destructive arson, and violation of Republic Act 11479, or the Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020.

Confiscated from the suspects were one caliber .45 pistol with one magazine and one hand grenade.

Authorities secured the area to ensure the safety of residents and placed the apprehended individuals in PNP custody for proper documentation and legal processing.

“This accomplishment demonstrates the strong inter-agency cooperation between the AFP and the PNP. The police led this law enforcement operation, and our troops provided the necessary security and support to ensure its safe and successful execution,” Western Mindanao Command Commander Lieutenant General Donald Gumiran said. —VBL, GMA Integrated News
