Magnitude 4.8 quake jolts Guimbal, Iloilo
A magnitude 4.8 earthquake of tectonic origin rocked Guimbal, Iloilo on Monday evening, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said.
In an advisory, PHIVOLCS said the earthquake – initially logged as magnitude 5 but was later downgraded – struck at 6:13 p.m.
It had a depth focus of 11 kilometers.
No damages or aftershocks were expected, PHIVOLCS said.
Intensity IV was felt in Iloilo City while Intensity III was felt in San Remegio, Antique.
Intensity II was felt in San Jose de Buenavista, Antique, and in Libacao and Madalag, Aklan while Intensity I was felt in Roxas City in Capiz.
Meanwhile, Intensity IV was logged in Iloilo City and in Jordan, Guimaras.
Intensity III was recorded in Valderrama and Culasi, Antique; Nueva Valencia, Guimaras; and Passi City, Iloilo.
Intensity II was recorded in Malinao, Aklan; Tapaz, Capiz; San Lorenzo, Guimaras; La Carlota City, Sipalay City, and Bacolod City in Negros Occidental; and in San Jose de Buenavista, Antique.
Intensity I was logged in Ibajay and Malay, Aklan; Anini’y, Antique; and Jamindan in Capiz. — JMA, GMA Integrated News
