Series of robbery reported in Rizal convenience stores

A series of robberies were reported at four different branches of a convenience store in Rizal, according to the provincial police on Wednesday.

At a press conference, Rizal Police provincial director Police Colonel Eleazar Barber Jr. said the incidents happened at 10:55 p.m. and 11:27 p.m. in Antipolo, 11:45 p.m. in Teresa on Sunday; and 12:23 a.m. in Pililla on Monday.

The suspects, wearing helmets and riding a motorcycle, quickly escaped after each robbery.

“[In our backtracking of CCTV], it is one and the same group, two unidentified motorcycle-riding suspects,” Barber said.

Authorities have uncovered at least 17 similar incidents in other areas in Metro Manila, Batangas, Laguna, and Quezon Province since October 2025, which are linked to the robberies in Rizal.

Police noted that most of the targeted stores had no security guards on duty at the time of the incidents.

Due to this, police recommended installing CCTV cameras, alarm systems, enhanced vault security, and deploying security personnel in 24-hour commercial establishments.

Police are also pushing for local ordinances prohibiting customers from wearing helmets inside stores. —VAL/AOL, GMA Integrated News
