8 people hurt in fireworks mishap at Panagbenga festival

Eight people were injured after a fireworks mishap during the closing program of the Panagbenga Festival 2026 in Baguio City.

According to a report on “Saksi” on Monday night, one of the fireworks landed on a skating rink where the members of a family from Pangasinan were seated, instead of flying up in the air.

The fireworks exploded and caused first degree burns in seven victims, while another is still under observation at a hospital due to a deep laceration on the foot.

The Baguio Flower Festival Foundation said they will cooperate with the police’s investigation.

Meanwhile, Baguio City mayor Benjamin Magalong said the group also promised to shoulder the costs of treatment of the eight victims of the fireworks mishap. — JMA, GMA Integrated News
