Mayon Volcano logs minor strombolian activity

A minor strombolian activity was observed at the Mayon Volcano on Saturday morning.

According to the Office of Civil Defense, the strombolian explosion started at around 5:24 AM.

Minor strombolian activity refers to low-level, intermittent, and relatively mild volcanic explosions.

"Manatili pong naka-alerto, laging mag-ingat, at sumunod sa paalala at babala ng mga awtoridad," the Office of Civil Defense said in its Facebook post.

(Stay alert, always be careful, and follow the reminders and warnings of the authorities.)

Mayon Volcano remains under Alert Level 3.

State volcanologists warned that Alert Level 3 continues to be in effect over Mayon Volcano, which means that entry into its six-kilometer Permanent Danger Zone (PDZ) is prohibited. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
