Two volcanic earthquakes and a volcanic tremor were recorded at the Taal Volcano in a 24-hour period, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said on Sunday morning.
Phivolcs also observed the volcano emit 2,039 tonnes of sulfur dioxide on Friday, March 13.
Currently at Alert Level: 1, Taal Volcano is at “low-level” unrest according to state seismologists.
Entry into Taal Volcano Island is prohibited as it is currently a Permanent Danger Zone, particularly the Main Crater and Daang Kastila fissures as well as occupancy and boating on Taal Lake.
Phivolcs said possible hazards include steam-driven or phreatic or gas-driven explosions, volcanic earthquakes, minor ashfall and lethal accumulations or expulsions of volcanic gas. —RF, GMA Integrated News
