Tagbilaran police chief, 4 cops sacked amid probe into alleged abduction caught in viral video
The chief of the Tagbilaran police and four other cops were temporarily relieved from their posts while an investigation ins ongoing of the alleged abduction of a man in daylight that appears in a now viral video.
According to Nikko Sereno’s Tuesday report on “24 Oras,” the video shows four men forcing another man, whose head was covered, inside a car near a bus terminal on Wednesday.
There were several bystanders during the incident, but none of them attempted to interfere.
Authorities are checking CCTV footage from establishments in the area as they investigate what many are saying is an alleged kidnapping.
They are also coordinating with the Land Transportation Office to identify the plate number of the sedan shown in the video.
Meanwhile, the Tagbilaran City government has offered a P50,000 reward to anyone who can provide information that will help identify and arrest the suspects.
"Until now, there was no blotter report or missing person report related to that incident. That's why when I posted it, I did not say it's kidnapping because nobody reported somebody got kidnapped. It is also irresponsible for me to say it, especially since I'm the mayor of Tagbilaran. What I said in my public post is that the video is now being investigated by the regional PNP,” Tagbilaran Mayor Jane Yap said.
