4 arrested in Albay for illegal fuel sale

Four individuals were arrested in Guinobatan, Albay for allegedly engaging in unauthorized fuel distribution, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said.

In an entrapment operation, the four suspects identified by their aliases “Karl,” “Malyn,” “Nel,” and “Meo” were arrested in Barangay Maipon. 

Authorities said the suspects were selling fuel without proper authorization, in violation of Batas Pambansa Blg. 33.

Seized during the operation were three portable micro fuel dispensers, a fuel tank, sales invoices, and marked buy-bust money, with an estimated total value of P2.32 million.

The suspects are currently under police custody for documentation and inquest proceedings.

PNP chief Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the operation is part of ongoing efforts to curb illegal activities that may disrupt fuel supply and pose risks to the public.

“Hindi po namin papayagan ang sinumang magsasamantala o magdulot ng panganib sa mamamayan,” Nartatez said.

The PNP reminded fuel sellers to comply with existing regulations and urged the public to report suspected illegal fuel activities to authorities. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
