3 alleged NPA members killed in Negros Occidental encounter
Three alleged members of the New People’s Army (NPA) were killed in an encounter with the 47th Infantry Battalion in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.
According to a Super Radyo dzBB report by Luisito Santos on Saturday, security operations were being conducted by military forces following information of the presence of members of the Southwest Front and Regional Strike Force in the area.
The encounter occurred past 4 a.m. on Saturday morning and lasted around 2 minutes.
There were no casualties on the side of the government.
Recovered in the scene an R4 Rifle, two M-16 rifles, two M-203 grenade launchers, a hand grenade, and other documents.
Authorities said that the three NPA members were believed to be responsible behind a series of violence, including killing and arson, around Negros Island. —Jiselle Anne C. Casucian/ VAL, GMA Integrated News
