PNP checkpoint in Dagupan City

Police in Dagupan City have tightened security in transport hubs, churches, and tourist spots ahead of the Holy Week travel surge, with hundreds of officers deployed to ensure public safety.

Dagupan City police conducted early inspections at bus terminals to check compliance with safety and security measures, including the presence of police assistance desks to help passengers.

They also inspected police stations, personnel on duty, and checkpoints across the city.

“Chineck natin ‘yung mga personnel natin kung kumpleto sila at siyempre pati ‘yung mga equipment nila kung okay lahat,” Police Colonel Arnold Solomon, director of the Dagupan City Police Office, said.

More than 400 police officers have been deployed in the city. Aside from terminals, authorities are closely monitoring churches and Tondaligan Beach, a popular destination during the Lenten break.

“Okay naman ang inspection natin, nakita naman nating naka-ready sila,” Solomon said.

The Pangasinan Police Provincial Office said it is also preparing for the expected influx of travelers returning to the province.

Officers have been stationed on major roads 24 hours a day to assist motorists.

“Expected talaga natin na dadagsa ang mga tao diyan sa mga bus terminal kaya maglalagay tayo diyan ng maximum deployment po ng ating personnel,” Police Captain Aileen Catugas, provincial police spokesperson, said.

Meanwhile, in Zambales, more than 600 police officers have also been deployed as part of heightened security operations.

Police assistance desks have been set up in several towns, with support from force multipliers and government agencies including the Philippine Coast Guard, Armed Forces of the Philippines, and Bureau of Fire Protection. GMA Regional TV
