Although many tourists are in vacation mode in Boracay this weekend, some of them also took the time to reflect and observe the Holy Week.

According to GMA Regional TV's Kim Salinas report on “24 Oras” on Thursday, Flor Bondoc’s family visited the Lambros Point, where an image of the Blessed Virgin Mary can be seen.

“Nananalangin talaga kami na sana kahit na ganito ang buhay, makaraos nang maayos, saka sana matapos na yung giyera sa ibang lugar,” said Bondoc, whose family came from Bataan.

(We really pray that, despite the way life is, we can get by safely, and that the war in other places will come to an end.)

Jo Vismonte’s family, meanwhile, went to Willy’s Rock, where the Grotto of the Blessed Mother is situated.

“Siyempre, Mahal na Araw, paggunita natin sa Panginoon, kay Hesus Kristo. Tapos, ayun, kasabay na rin yung pag-enjoy sa Boracay,” Vismonte said.

(Of course, Holy Week is our time to remember the Lord, Jesus Christ. At the same time, people are also enjoying Boracay.)

The parish in Boracay is ready for the Via Crucis, which will start at 6 a.m. at the Santa Lucia Chapel in Barangay Manocmanoc.

The procession will be along the highway and the beachfront, reaching the church in Station 1.

“Open sa lahat ng mga Katoliko na gustong sumama, kahit na yung mga tourists na pumunta sa Boracay, still they have the chance to reflect on this season of Holy Week,” said Fr. Francis Bolivar, parish priest of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Parish.

(This is open to all Catholics who want to participate. Even the tourists still have the chance to reflect on this season of Holy Week.)

Several tourists enjoy various water activities in Boracay on Maundy Thursday as they try the crystal-clear kayaks, which are picture-worthy, and paddleboarding.
