Three people who came from a trip to the beach in San Fabian, Pangasinan were killed after the tricycle they were riding was hit in the rear by a pick-up truck.

According to Marisol Abdurahman’s report on “24 Oras” on Thursday, the victims – who were also neighbors – were on their way home in Barangay Pogo, Mangaldan after going to the beach in San Fabian.

The pick-up truck was overtaking another vehicle when it hit the tricycle.

The tricycle’s rear was smashed after the tricycle was dragged for 100 meters, while the front portion of the pick-up truck was destroyed.

Three passengers of the tricycle died while the tricycle driver and two other passengers are recovering in the hospital.

The 25-year-old pick-up driver – who is suspected to be drunk at the time of the incident – is in police custody and refused to comment on the incident.

The driver has also reached out to the victims’ families to discuss the mishap.

“Siyempre masakit. Nanulungkot dahil wala na ‘yung asawa. Siyempre ganito, hindi naman sinasadya ito. Wala nang magagawa,” the husband of one of the victims said.

(It’s painful since my wife is gone. He did not mean to do it, but there’s nothing I can do about it.)

Meanwhile, a fuel tanker driver was killed after his vehicle hit a water refilling station in Barangay Montecillo in Sariaya, Quezon on Wednesday.

Police said the tanker came from the fuel depot and was about to return to the garage when the driver lost control of the vehicle.

Fortunately, the fuel tanker did not explode when it hit the water refilling station.

However, an employee of the water refilling station was brought to the hospital after sustaining injuries from fallen debris.
