2 arrested in Pagadian buy-bust on Maundy Thursday

Two individuals were arrested in a buy-bust operation on Maundy Thursday in Barangay San Pedro, Pagadian City on Maundy Thursday, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said on Good Friday.

In a statement, the PDEA identified the suspects as “Ryan “and “Janneth.”

Authorities conducted the operation as part of intensified efforts to ensure public safety during the Holy Week.

Seized from the suspects were three plastic sachets containing around seven grams of suspected shabu worth P47,600. The buy-bust money and other non-drug items were also confiscated from them.

The suspects will face charges for the sale of and conspiracy to sell dangerous drugs under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

According to the DPEA, the operation underscores its continued efforts to curb illegal drugs, especially during the Lenten season when families gather and communities observe religious traditions. —VAL, GMA News
