BOC seizes P30.78M worth of ketamine in Pampanga
The Bureau of Customs (BOC) seized more than P30 million worth of drugs at the Port of Clark in Pampanga.
According to a statement on Friday, the shipment was intercepted from the Netherlands, which has been tagged as solar cables bound for Pasig City, following information from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and a positive indication of illegal substances from a K-9 sniff test.
Inspection revealed that it actually contained six transparent plastic pouches containing 6,156 grams of ketamine, estimated to be worth P30,780,000, hidden under a wooden cable spool containing coiled wires.
“Every drug shipment we stop represents lives protected and families spared from harm. This is not just enforcement—it is our duty to safeguard the well-being of every Filipino,” said BOC Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno.
“Smugglers continue to evolve their tactics, and so must we. Strengthening our profiling systems and continuously building the expertise of our examiners are key to staying ahead and protecting our borders,” added district collector Jairus Reyes.
The contraband had been seized through a Warrant of Seizure and Detention issued for violations of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act. —Jiselle Anne C. Casucian/LDF, GMA News
