More than 500 Catholics, including locals and visitors, took part in the yearly Via Crucis on Boracay Island on Good Friday, the parish church said.

According to a "24 Oras" report by GMA Regional TV's Kim Salinas, the Via Crucis (Stations of the Cross) was conducted at the beachfront.

“Hindi yung success yung hanap natin kundi ang fruitfulness… Maganda yung takbo ng Via Crucis. Walang masyadong interruptions at maraming sumama,” said parish priest Rev. Fr. Francis Bolivar.

(We are not after its success but its fruitfulness… The Via Crucis went well. There weren’t many interruptions, and a lot of people joined.)

Some tourists said that they abstain from eating meat as a form of penitence.

Authorities in Boracay also placed a ban on parties and loud music from 6 a.m. on Good Friday to 6 a.m. on Black Saturday. —Jiselle Anne Casucian/VBL, GMA News
