18 tourists evacuated as grass fire hits Mt. Kabunian in Benguet
Eighteen tourists were evacuated after a grass fire broke out on Mt. Kabunian in Bakun town, Benguet.
According to a "24 Oras Weekend" report on Saturday, the tourists were on the mountain when the fire started on Maundy Thursday.
No injuries were reported.
Initial investigations indicate that the fire was likely caused by hot weather.
The local government unit has temporarily suspended hiking and trekking activities on the mountain.
Meanwhile, a separate wildfire broke out at Mt. Lamesang Bato in Batangas.
The blaze lasted for five hours and reached first alarm before it was put out.
No injuries were also reported.
