Comelec to hold twin plebiscites in Davao del Norte on April 11, 2026

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) will conduct twin plebiscites in Davao del Norte on April 11, 2026 for the renaming of the municipality of San Isidro and Barangay Sawata.

On Facebook, the poll body said voting will run from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., with residents to decide whether to ratify the renaming of the municipality of San Isidro to Sawata.

A separate plebiscite will also be held for the proposed renaming of Barangay Sawata to Barangay Poblacion.

The Comelec said the plebiscites are in line with Republic Act No. 11814, which seeks to rename the municipality of San Isidro as Sawata and Barangay Sawata as Barangay Poblacion in the province of Davao del Norte. The bill lapsed into law in June 2022.

Voter registration activities, meanwhile, will be suspended in the San Isidro town from April 10 to April 11 to give way to the plebiscites.

“Walang voter registration sa San Isidro, Davao del Norte sa April 10-11, 2026,” the Comelec said.
