Davao City forms task force to address socioeconomic crisis
The City Government of Davao has created an inter-agency task force to address the impacts of the emergency socioeconomic crisis brought by the continued surge in the prices of petroleum products.
On March 31, 2026, Mayor Sebastian Duterte issued an executive order creating the group on emergency socioeconomic crisis response (IATF-CRISIS) committee a few days after President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. declared a state of national energy emergency due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East that caused the prices of fuel to rise.
This has affected basic commodities, transportation costs, and overall economic activity.
The committee will be chaired by the city mayor, with the city administrator as alternate chair and the City Planning and Development Coordinator as vice chair.
The members include representatives from the City Information Office, City Vice Mayor, City Administrator, City Legal Office, City Engineer’s Office, City Accountant’s Office, City Budget Office, and the Department of Interior and Local Government-Davao City Operations Office.
IATF-CRISIS subcommittees were also created composed of the heads of the Peace, Safety, and Security Committee, Employment Committee, Social Intervention Committee, Economic Committee, Health and Emergency Committee, and Energy Committee.
The task force is ordered to formulate and implement response measures to any socioeconomic emergencies, monitor prices of goods and commodities, ensure supply stability, and coordinate recovery programs to restore normalcy in the local economy. —GMA Regional TV
