The oldest World War II veteran in Davao City, Teofilo Gamutan Sr., has passed away at the age of 102.
According to his family, Gamutan, known to many as “Lolo Pilo,” died on Good Friday, April 3, 2026.
Lolo Pilo’s family described him as a man who lived a life grounded in faith, honor, strength, humility, and kindness.
They added that he was a loving father and neighbor who brought dignity and comfort to those around him.
The family is asking for prayers for his eternal rest.
Lolo Pilo was known among Davaoeños as he regularly attended the city’s Araw ng Kagitingan celebrations every April 9 despite his age. —With reports from Jhesa Torrefranca, GMA Super Radyo Davao/GMA Regional TV News
