Cagayan de Oro City placed under 'State of Energy Emergency'
Cagayan de Oro City has been placed under the State of Energy Emergency during a special City Council session held on Tuesday, April 7, 2026.
The 21st City Council approved Proposed Resolution No. 2026-203 after the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (DRRMC) endorsed the resolution after a meeting was conducted last Monday, April 6, 2026.
"Ang deklarasyon sa State of Energy Emergency magtugot sa lokal nga kagamhan sa pagpatuman sa husto, tukma, ug koordinadong mga lakang aron matubag ang mga risgo nga dala sa kalibutanong kakulang sa enerhiya," according to the statement posted by the Cagayan de Oro City Information Office.
(The declaration of State of Energy Emergency gives local officials the power to implement proper and coordinated steps to answer the risks brought about by the global energy deficiency.)
The City Council assured that through the approved resolution, that the executive department will come up with an emergency crsis plan to ensure proper distribution of funds in the city.
To recall that last March 31, City Mayor Rolando "Klarex" Uy, issed an Executive Order creating an Energy Crisis Committee and possible steps to take in addressing the effects of the oil crisis.
The beneficiaries are transport groups, farmers, fisherfolks, senior citizens, persons with disabilities (PWDs), solo parents, among others. — BAP, GMA News
