Mango farmers are facing difficulties selling their harvests due to rising fuel prices caused by the Middle East conflict.
According to a “24 Oras” report on Thursday, farmer Richard Tolentino had to discard up to 10 tons of rotten mangoes because he couldn’t transport them to buyers.
What used to cost P20,000 per truck for gasoline now reaches P50,000.
From being able to send three trucks a day, Tolentino can now afford to send only one.
He said having more deliveries would lead to losses.
For now, some mangoes are being sold in local markets, but profits remain low. —Mariel Celine Serquiña/LDF, GMA News
