3 dead after trailer truck runs over motorcycles in Mandaue, Cebu

Three people were killed in Mandaue City, Cebu after a trailer truck ran over several motorcycles behind it.

According to a “Saksi” report on Monday, CCTV footage showed the truck attempting to maneuver along an uphill road section when it stopped and rolled back.

The trailer truck hit several motorcycles behind it. The driver attempted to maneuver once more, but ended up hitting a motorcycle on the side of the road.

A motorcycle rider and passenger died on the spot, while another motorcycle rider died soon after the incident.

A complaint is being prepared against the truck driver, who sought forgiveness from the victims’ families.

The truck driver claimed that other vehicles were driving too fast along the curved section of the road which prompted him to step on the brakes, which malfunctioned. — Mariel Celine Serquiña/JMA, GMA News
