P47M in suspected shabu seized, 3 arrested in Zamboanga buy-bust

Three high-value drug suspects were arrested while over P47 million of suspected shabu was seized in a buy-bust operation in Zamboanga City last Friday.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) carried out the joint operation in Barangay Divisoria at 5:35 p.m.

Authorities recovered P47.6 million worth of suspected shabu weighing seven kilos from the three suspects.

Aside from the narcotics, the buy-bust money and other non-drug items were found at the scene of the transaction, the PNP said in a statement on Sunday.

“We will continue to intensify our operations against individuals who persist in engaging in illegal drug trade. They will face the full force of the law,” PNP chief Police General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said.

The suspects are now in the custody of the Zamboanga City Police Office for proper documentation and filing of charges for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act. — JMA, GMA News
