PH Army: 19 alleged NPAs killed, 1 soldier hurt in Negros clash

Nineteen alleged members of the New People’s Army (NPA) were killed in an encounter with government troops in Barangay Salamanca, Toboso, Negros Occidental, the Philippine Army said Monday.

Army spokesperson Colonel Louie Dema-ala said the clash occurred early Sunday involving personnel from the 79th Infantry Battalion of the 3rd Infantry Division.

“Initial reports show an encounter involving the 79IB, 3ID in Barangay Salamanca, Toboso, Negros Occidental," Dema-ala said.

"Nineteen NPAs were killed, dismantling the Northern Negros Front, and one of our troops was wounded with a minor injury and is now in stable condition,” he added.

Dema-ala added that details of the incident are still being validated.—MCG, GMA News
