Drivers who got only P1,500 in fuel subsidy complain to LTFRB-10
Several taxi and jeepney drivers in Cagayan de Oro City have raised concerns after reportedly receiving only P1,500 as fuel subsidy.
Taxi drivers and operators went to the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board-Northern Mindanao (LTFRB-10) morning on Monday, April 20, 2026, to complain and seek clarification.
They said they were surprised by the amount they received believing that the subsidy was set at P5,000.
Cagayan de Oro First Taxi Drivers Alliance (CAFIDATA) President, Bernie Jamaca, said most drivers were disappointed and confused, with some thinking their funds had been reduced or mishandled.
“Sa kadaghanan sa mga taxi drivers nga nakadawat ug 1,500 dismayado gyud sila abi nila gikawat ilang kwarta. Kung mahimo unta cash na lang ihatag sa ato para maklaro kung pila ba ang madawat kay atong gusto madawat man gud katong istorya sa DOTr nga five thousand,” Jamaca said.
Meanwhile, United Drivers Association (UNIDA) president, Joel Gabatan, said that some jeepney drivers expected a total assistance package of 11,500, consisting of a P5,000 from the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) and P6,500 fuel subsidy.
“Ang sa driver 6,500 ra gyud. P5,000 sa AICS, P1,500 sa fuel subsidy unya isa ka driver ang makadawat nagtuo gani ang uban nga duha. Mag sabot siguro ang driver kung mag tunga ba kaha sila,” Gabatan said.
LTFRB-10 Regional Director, Aljo Bendijo, assured that the concerns will be forwarded to the central office for immediate resolution.
He also confirmed that the intended fuel subsidy for taxi drivers is P5,000.
“Ang pakiusap ko lang sa ilaha na kung maari huwag muna galawin ang 1,500 ayaw sa gastusa then iscreen shoot ang notification from Gcash para ma rectify kung ano man ang problema. Within this week kung kaya mo makausap ang central office para maibigay na ang full na 5k na sa kanila this week,” Bendijo said.
