Magnitude 6 earthquake rocks San Julian, Eastern Samar —PHIVOLCS
A magnitude 6 earthquake hit San Julian, Eastern Samar on Monday afternoon, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).
Occurred at 2:09 p.m., the earthquake was located 20 kilometers north 65 degrees east of San Julian, Eastern Samar (11.82°N, 125.62°E).
The tremor was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 56 kilometers.
Damage and aftershocks are expected, according to PHIVOLCS.
Intensity V was felt in Tacloban City; Intensity III in Casiguran, and Juban, Sorsogon; and Intensity II in Tandag, Surigao del Sur.
Instrumental Intensity V was recorded in Can-avid, Eastern Samar, as well as in Dulag and Alangalang in Leyte.
Intensity IV was felt in Abuyog, Palo, and Carigara in Leyte; Palapag, and San Roque, Northern Samar.
Intensity III was felt in Bulusan, and City of Sorsogon, Sorsogon; Naval, Biliran; Hernani, Eastern Samar; Albuera, City of Baybay, Hilongos, Isabel, and Villaba, Leyte; Ormoc City; Hinundayan, Malitbog, San Francisco, and Sogod, Southern Leyte.
Intensity II was recorded in Esperanza, and Monreal, Masbate; Prieto Diaz, Sorsogon; San Francisco, Cebu; Kawayan, Biliran.
Meanwhile, Intensity I was felt in areas including City of Tabaco, Albay; Aroroy, and Cataingan, Masbate; Donsol, Sorsogon; City of Passi, Iloilo; City of Carcar, Cebu; Cebu City; City of Maasin, Southern Leyte. —AOL, GMA News
