2 dead, 1 hurt after truck hits motorcycle in Zamboanga del Sur

Two people were killed while another was injured after a wing van truck hit a motorcycle in Kumalarag, Zamboanga del Sur morning on Tuesday, May 6, 2026.

Based on investigation, the truck, carrying glass products, tried to overtake the motorcycle while traveling downhill in Barangay Poblacion. However, the motorcycle reportedly made a left turn suddenly, which caused the collision.

Responders from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) said the 20-year-old rider and his 20-year-old female companion died from severe injuries.

Their 17-year-old companion was injured and is now receiving treatment, as of this writing.

The 29-year-old truck driver from Cagayan de Oro City was taken into police custody. —Efren Yunting Mamac, GMA Regional TV News
