Missing best friends found dead inside vehicle in Naga City, Cebu
Two 7-year-old boys were found dead inside a vehicle in Cebu, on Wednesday, May 20 after they went missing on Sunday, May 17.
According to the report of Super Radyo Cebu’s Joann Gantalao on Thursday, the victims were found inside a parked vehicle at Purok Yosom Sitio Bantayan, Brgy. Tuyan in Naga City.
The victims were identified as Remart Cunag and Jeff Xian Abellar, who were best friends.
But the City of Naga Police said that there is no foul play behind the children’s death.
City of Naga Police Station chief Police Lieutenant Colonel Dexter Calacar said the parents of the children went to the police to report.
Based on CCTV footage, the police investigation showed that the two boys were playing and reached the parking area where the vehicle was found. The victims possibly went inside the vehicle and were locked, the police said.
Further, the vehicle where the victims were found has been parked in the said area for a long time after its owner died, the report added.
In the report of GMA Regional TV’s Allan Domingo on “24 Oras,” the bodies of the two young victims had to be immediately buried due to their state. However, their families want their remains to be exhumed and undergo an autopsy.
The families are doubtful that there’s no foul play after blood and wounds were allegedly found on the hand of Remart. They believe that he could have been beaten up.
“We wanted them to be autopsied so we can know if he was really beaten up,” said Bernadeth Cunag, mother of Remart.
“I’m suspicious as to why there was blood and wounds on his hand,” she added. —Vince Angelo Ferreras/LDF, GMA News
