Blast rocks firecracker factory in Cabuyao, Laguna

An explosion rocked a firecracker factory in Barangay Butong, Cabuyao, Laguna on Friday night, according to a "24 Oras" report.

A video of the incident showed thick, black smoke billowing from the site due to the resulting fire, which reached the first alarm before being put out at around 7 p.m., a separate report from "Saksi" said.

The explosion damaged several houses near the factory.

The Bureau of Fire Protection in Cabuyao said no person was inside the factory.

"May imbakan po rito ng raw materials sa paggawa ng paputok (There's a storage area for materials used in making firecrackers)," said Fire Chief Inspector Lourdes Cristy Raborar, Cabuyao City Fire Marshal.

She added investigation of the incident is ongoing.—LDF, GMA News
