Several motorcycle riders were injured in separate road crashes in Pangasinan, Cebu, and Capiz, including one crash involving stray cattle and another linked to a motorcycle traveling without headlights, according to Jonathan Andal's report on "24 Oras Weekend."

In Barangay Amansabina, Mangaldan, Pangasinan, a motorcycle rider on his way to work was injured after colliding with a stray cow that had wandered onto the road.

Video footage showed two cows running along the roadway before one of them was struck by the motorcycle, throwing the rider off his vehicle.

The victim suffered a serious head injury and was rushed to a hospital. He was reportedly not wearing a helmet.

The cows’ owner, Edwin De Vera, said he had forgotten to tie up the animals.

“They do not usually run like that. Maybe something startled or frightened them,” De Vera said.

Aurie Nanasca, the victim’s sister-in-law, appealed for assistance in settling hospital expenses, saying medical costs and medicines were difficult to afford.

In Barangay Malabago, also in Mangaldan, a slow-moving motorcycle without headlights was hit by another motorcycle attempting to overtake. Both riders were thrown off and sustained injuries.

The Philippine National Police said the two riders may have been intoxicated, although neither had issued a statement.

In Talisay City in Cebu, two motorcycle riders collided at an intersection, prompting an immediate response from a traffic enforcer stationed nearby. The parties later settled.

In another incident in Talisay City, a truck and a motorcycle turned simultaneously at an intersection, nearly causing the rider to be run over after being hit by the truck. No serious injuries were reported, and both parties later settled the matter.

Meanwhile, in Panay town in Capiz, a motorcycle rider was seriously injured after being run over by an oil tanker.

Authorities said the rider was attempting to overtake a tricycle when he crashed into the truck, causing him to fall underneath the vehicle and suffer injuries to his right arm and was immediately taken to a hospital.—MCG, GMA News
