MMDA deploys life-saving gear, rescue dogs to collapsed Angeles City building
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said it will provide necessary equipment and personnel to help with search and rescue (SAR) operations of at least 30 persons who were reported buried underneath a nine-story building that collapsed in Angeles City, Pampanga on Sunday morning.
In Jonathan Andal’s report on Sunday, MMDA General Manager Nicolas Torre III the agency is there to provide assistance in the SAR efforts.
“Magbibigay kami ng equipment na meron kami na kailangan nila including mga life monitor at heartbeat detectors natin,” Torre said.
He said their four heartbeat detectors will help rescuers determine if there are persons still alive even underneath the rubble as well as their location.
Aside from the equipment, Torre said the MMDA Search and Rescue Group that includes specially-trained rescue dogs are now en route to the site.
He said they still do not know how many people are still trapped underneath the debris.
Two people feared trapped after a building collapse in the Philippines were alive and communicating with rescuers on Sunday, an official said, as rescue efforts continued. —RF, GMA News
