Magnitude 5.0 earthquake hits Davao Oriental
A magnitude 5.0 earthquake was recorded off the coast of Baganga, Davao Oriental on Monday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said.
The earthquake struck at 10:32 a.m. on May 25 at 07.92°N, 126.99°E - 061 km N 51° E of Baganga.
The tremor was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 7 kilometers.
Intensity IV was felt in Baganga, Davao Oriental, and Intensity III in Cateel, Davao Oriental.
Intensity II meanwhile was experienced in the municipalities of Boston, Manay, and Tarragona in Davao Oriental; and Intensity I in Compostela in Davao de Oro, and Banaybanay in Davao Oriental.
The earthquake was first reported by PHIVOLCS as having magnitude 5.2 before downgrading it to magnitude 5.0 as of 11:45 a.m.
PHIVOLCS said no damage is expected but aftershocks from the earthquake may occur. —Lyjah Tiffany Bonzo/KG, GMA News
