Body found in the rubble of collapsed building in Angeles City on Wednesday
Another body found in collapsed building in Angeles City, Pampanga on Wednesday evening, according to the report of Jamie Santos on "Saksi."
The body was found in Sector 1 of the building around 6:18 p.m. on Wednesday with the help of the canine unit of the Philippine Coast Guard.
The search and rescue operations continue at the site of the collapsed nine-storey building as Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla said they have not lost hope that there may still be survivors underneath the rubble.
It was on Monday evening that the transition was made from search and rescue operations to retrieval operations because no signs of life were detected.
Remulla said there may still a possibility to find the 16 missing persons.
"There has been instances kasi na two weeks after nahahanap pa rin, katulad ng nangyari sa Baguio. So, for me, I would rather consider a search and rescue... We have not given up hope. Hindi tayo mawawalan ng pag-asa," he said.
The owner of the construction firm, which is working on the building, has not surfaced yet.
Remulla said a subpoena and a hold order at the airport will be issued.
Acting Labor Secretary Francis Tolentino said the owner of the company may face criminal charges, including violation of the Labor Code.
"Ang pagkukulang dito ay hindi dapat ay hindi dapat nagkaroon ng tulugan dun sa loob ng construction site mismo. Dapat may barracks. Pangalawa, hindi dapat kasama yung pamilya. Sabi ni Mayor meron daw ibang report na may kasamang pamilya sa loob. Hindi dapat kasama yun," said Tolentino.
(The shortcoming here is that there shouldn't have been any sleeping quarters inside the construction site itself. There should have been barracks. Second, the family shouldn't have been included. The Mayor said there were other reports that there were families inside. That shouldn't have been included.) — BAP, GMA News
