229 alleged sex offenders arrested in CALABARZON in 10 days
Authorities arrested a total of 229 alleged sex offenders in 10 days in the CALABARZON Region.
According to a "24 Oras" report by John Consulta, the arrests were made between May 21 and 31, 2026 under the region's "Oplan Bantay Dangal."
The operation was launched amid the increasing number of sex offenses reported in the region.
"They make use of the social media to entice their victims and invite them for a personal meeting and in that scenario, they will execute their carnal desire," said the police regional director Police Brigadier General Hansel Marantan.
In Sta. Rosa, Laguna, a 22-year-old suspect who is wanted for raping his he met online was arrested.
In Northern Samar, a suspect was also nabbed for 13 counts of statutory rape in Antipolo, Rizal in 2024.
Another suspect was arrested in Jala-Jala, Rizal for the alleged rape of a minor.
"The perpetuation of their sexual assault...they filmed it and after filming it, they showed it the friends of the victim, so added injury," Marantan said.
