Two strong aftershocks hit Sarangani — PHIVOLCS
Two strong aftershocks were reported to have occurred in the Sarangani area early Wednesday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported.
The first earthquake, PHIVOLCS earlier reported was a 5.9-magnitude aftershock but was downgraded to magnitude 5.0. occurred at 12:49 a.m. was tectonic in origin with a depth of 19 kilometers off Balut Island (Municipality Of Sarangani) (Davao Occidental).
The earthquake was felt in the following areas:
- Intensity IV - General Santos City
- Intensity I - Davao City
Another aftershock, magnitude 5.1, with a depth of 10 kilometers was recorded at 2:09 a.m. and was tectonic in origin on Sarangani Island (Municipality Of Sarangani) (Davao Occidental)
The earthquakes were aftershocks of the 7.8-magnitude earthquake that hit Maasim, Sarangani on Monday.
The PHIVOLCS reported that aftershocks and damage to property are expected. — BAP, GMA News
