A 38-year-old High School teacher was found dead on Friday in a house in Bacolod City after a student allegedly beat him up then forced him to drink muriatic acid after he refused to lend him money.

According to the report of GMA Regional TV's Aileen Pedreso on “24 Oras” on Monday, authorities were able to arrest the 24-year-old college student in the scene of the crime after he allegedly tried to escape three times.

“Pagpasok, may nakita siyang taong may hinihinalang isa pang tao. Hubo’t hubad. Sunog ang [mukha]. Inamin rin niyang binugbog niya muna ito bago pinainom ng muriatic acid,” Barangay Alijis Chief Tanod Benedick Isidro said.

(Upon entering, he saw someone with what was believed to be another person — naked and with a burned face. The suspect admitted that he beat the victim first before forcing him to drink muriatic acid.)

“Pumasok siya sa CR. Umakyat din sa kisame. That time, wala na siyang lalabsan, hanggang sa nawasak ang kisame na meta furring,” Isidro added.

(He fled into the restroom and climbed into the ceiling. He was trapped up there with no escape, until the metal furring of the ceiling collapsed.)

According to the police investigation, the suspect went to the victim's home and drank with him before committing the crime.

“Nangangailangan siya ng pera at humihiram sa biktima,” Bacolod City Police Station 7 Chief PCPT. Jay-R Reyes said.

(He was in need of money and was trying to borrow from the victim.)

One of the angles investigators are looking into is the victim's refusal to lend the suspect money.

According to the police, the suspect is no longer a minor and is fully aware of right and wrong.

A murder complaint has already been filed against the suspect, who declined to comment.

Meanwhile, the victim's remains are scheduled to undergo an autopsy. — Lyjah Tiffany Bonzo/BAP, GMA News
