Fire breaks out from a well in Dueñas, Iloilo; 10% volume of methane detected

A fire suddenly broke out in a part of the rice field where a well is being dug up in Dueñas, Iloilo, according to a report on "Saksi" Monday.

The caretaker of the property related that they were digging a well with a depth of about 10 feet.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) personnel inspected the site and installed a cordon around the fire.

According to the Environmental Management Bureau, a line agency of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region 6, said they found 10% volume of methane at the well.

Officials told the residents to avoid smoking cigarettes in the area. An analysis of the well continues. — BAP, GMA News
