Batangas school suspends classes amid shooting threat
The Batangas City Integrated High School (BCIHS) suspended all classes and on-site school activities on Monday, June 29, due to a shooting threat.
According to the BCIHS, classes and activities are suspended until further notice.
“This precautionary measure is being implemented to ensure the safety and security of all learners, teaching and non-teaching personnel, parents, and other members of the school community,” it said.
“Everyone is advised not to enter or proceed to the school premises while the suspension remains in effect,” it added.
The BCIHS said it is coordinating with law enforcement authorities.
The threat came days after the school shooting incident in Tacloban City that left three people dead and numerous others injured.
In an interview on Super Radyo dzBB, Police Lieutenant Sharen Ama of the Batangas City Police-Public Information Office, said the school received a threat through its Facebook page that students from Grade 7 to Grade 10 will be the target.
Ama said the dummy account that issued the threat claimed to be a Grade 10 student and a victim of bullying.
“Sa ngayon po ay ongoing po ‘yung ating investigation (the investigation is currently ongoing),” Ama said.
Ama said they also held a meeting with the school’s principal.
