Dauin, Negros Oriental LGU mobilizes barangay tanods to beef up school security
The acting mayor of Dauin, Negros Oriental has directed all barangays to deploy Barangay Tanods to beef up security detail in schools throughout the municipality.
In Executive Order No. 2026-23 series of 2026, Alvin V. Truita said "All Punong Barangays are hereby directed to assign and deploy an adequate number of Barangay Tanods to render duty at schools located within their respective barangays in adherence to DILG MC No. 2025-072."
Truita said the tanods are to be present in the morning, 30 minutes before the classes until the learners have safely entered the school premises.
During lunch break, they are to monitor learner safety and activities within the school premises.
At least 30 minutes before dismissal time, the tanods should be present until learners have safely dispersed from the school vicinity.
Barangay Tanods will be stationed in and around public elementary and secondary schools to:
- Assist students in safely crossing roads and highways
- Help manage traffic near school entrances and exits
- Maintain peace and order within school vicinities
- Coordinate with school authorities, the PNP, MDRRMO, and other agencies when necessary
- Promptly report any untoward incidents or security concerns
"This Executive Order covers all barangays and public schools in the Municipality of Dauin and reinforces the shared responsibility of the Local Government Unit, barangays, schools, parents, and the community in providing a safe and secure learning environment for every child," he added. — BAP, GMA News
