A 17-year-old girl in Talakag, Bukidnon was hacked to death by the river where she was washing clothes in Talakag, Bukidnon.

Her live-in partner, Bobby Dacer, saw the crime as he was approaching the scene and believes the suspect raped the victim before hacking her.

The incident happened on Sunday, June 28, 2026.

Dacer said they went to the river to wash clothes that day. He went home ahead later with their 10-month-old baby while the girl stayed behind to continue doing the laundry.

He said he even saw the suspect repairing his motorcycle near the spillway, but he paid no attention to it.

About 20 minutes later, he returned to the river and saw the hacking.

He claimed that he confronted the suspect, who was carrying a bladed weapon. However, the suspect fled immediately when people in the area came to Dacer’s aid.

The victim's family is now seeking justice.

The victim’s remains are now at their home in Barangay Cugman, Cagayan de Oro City, where the wake is being held.

The family is facing a challenge in giving her a proper burial since they are currently going through financial difficulties, prompting them to appeal for help.

Meanwhile, authorities are pursuing the suspect.

Based on his social media post, Talakag Mayor Renz Sulatan has offered a reward to anyone who can provide information on the suspect’s whereabouts.

He is also calling for cooperation in order to ensure that justice is served for the victim. —Cyril Chaves, GMA Regional TV News
