An infant suffered a cut on one of her fingers after touching the sharp rim of a glass candle holder during her baptism at a church in Alegria, Cebu.

According to Darlene Cay's report on "24 Oras Weekend" on Sunday, video footage showed the infant crying in pain while her mother's white dress became stained with blood.

In a Facebook post, the mother said they were unaware that the rim of the glass candle holder was sharp, causing the injury.

She said the family had already prepared personalized baptismal candles, but the parish office required them to purchase candles in glass holders for use during the rites.

The infant's father also sustained a cut from the same glass candle holder. The mother believes the holder was repurposed from a glass bottle and that its edges had not been properly smoothed.

She also said there was no first-aid kit available at the church, forcing the family to treat the infant's wound themselves.

The family reported the incident to the parish priest, but the mother said no action was taken.
