SK official swept away by strong current in river found dead

A Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) kagawad was found dead on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, three days after he was reportedly swept away by the strong current at a river in Tukuran, Zamboanga del Sur.

The body of the 25-year-old victim was found entangled in driftwood and debris in the river in Barangay Curvada. It was already in a state of decomposition when it was found.

The body has been turned over to the victim's family.

According to the Zamboanga del Sur Police Provincial Office (ZDSPPO), the victim was fishing with four companions on July 11, 2026, Saturday, when he was carried away by the strong current at the river.

The current at the river became strong after Barangay Baclay experienced heavy rains.
